Current research indicates that the most effective counseling occurs through implementation of congruent faith systems. Unfortunately, most people seeking Chrisitan counseling find themselves on a long waitlist. Local pastors have even indicated they have to send referrals off-island to get immediate help.
The Nehemiah Center Kauai will help to fill this void of specialized mental health services.
In the Bible, Nehemiah grieved that God’s Temple in Jerusalem, and His people, had no walls to protect them and keep them safe from harm. Not only did Nehemiah instigate rebuilding the Temple walls, but he helped re-align the people with God’s ways, effectively transforming their lives.
We grieve the harm and destruction evident in people’s lives and sincerely desire to help. Using Nehemiah as a model, we offer a safe space for help, healing, and hope to occur by re-aligning people with Biblical time-tested, research supported, healthy ways of God. Our hearts’ desire is to come alongside people in their difficult times, helping them to rebuild thier lives on a solid, Biblical life foundation and ultimately becoming the masterpieces God created them to be.

On Kauai currently there is only ONE liscened Christian psychologist.
I was recruited to be a psychologist in the public schoools, however, I discovered upon sharing my integrative Christian counseling approach that there where many restrictions.
I ended up opening a private practice in a local church.
I know two other counselors that pulled out of the public schools for the same reasons.
