The group will focus on cultivating a Proverbs 3:5–6 mindset: trusting the Lord wholeheartedly and allowing Him to direct our paths. Participants will explore how faith, identity, and purpose intersect—while also learning to recognize toxic thought patterns, unhealthy relationships, and the power of words. The study will offer tools for healing, forward momentum, and living from God’s truth, not others' criticism.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Ph.D. Educational Psychology
Aloha! I am Catherine Long, born and raised on Kauai. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. I also obtained a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology. My most revered title is “tutu” of 7 grandchildren.
Human beings are created for connection; however, relational challenges can disrupt emotional well-being and leave individuals and families uncertain about how to move forward. During these times, professional support can provide clarity, stability, and practical guidance toward healthier and more fulfilling relationships with oneself and others.
As a Christian woman and clinician, I recognize that for many individuals and families, faith is an integral part of healing. When desired, I integrate spiritual awareness with evidence-based therapeutic practices, always respecting personal beliefs and values. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and respected. I work with individuals and families experiencing a range of concerns, including domestic or family violence, substance use and addiction, relationship and marital distress, parenting challenges, and custody or visitation matters. I understand the complex emotional impact of these experiences, including grief, confusion, fear, and isolation. Seeking support and engaging in change requires strength and intentionality.
I am committed to practicing with cultural humility and spiritual sensitivity. Treatment is collaborative and tailored to the unique needs, strengths, and lived experiences of each client and family system. My goal is to support healing, restore stability, and promote growth in a manner that is clinically sound and aligned with each client’s values.

Licensed Clinical Social
Worker
I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families around a variety of issues. Most recently I have been integrating my Christian beliefs in therapy when requested and / or when there is an opening to talk about Jesus. I believe that folks seek therapy when they are already heading down the path to making things better in their lives. I want to join you on your path. My experience has been with families and children in the child welfare system. I have also worked with individuals around domestic violence and anger issues. I focus my work on helping a person/ couple/ or family to identify the things they want to work on, to set goals around that, and to provide skills to help make changes for the better in their circumstance.
I have been providing therapy using the Brief Therapy Model with clients for the past three years. My other training is in working with trauma issues. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have training in this method.
The past few years have been difficult times for many people. As a result, many have suffered mental health issues and Mental Health services have become a part of the solution in dealing with those issues as they have become more acceptable. I invite you to reach out for a free consultation.

Over the years, Val has created space for people to discover their wonderfully unique God-given gifts and talents, reflecting the image of God in them. Her experience demonstrates that providing clients with integrated Christian counseling establishes stability and power needed to lead full, healthy lives through connection, empathy, and loving Biblical truth.
Dr. Willman is no longer accepting clients as she moves into her role as Clinical Director for the Nehemiah Center Kaua`i.

Founder
Mark Willman is the Facilities Director at Kaua`i Bible Church, serving in this role since 2023. Prior to that he was the Executive Administrator since 2017. He received his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in 1992. Prior to his position at Kaua`i Bible Church, Mark worked in the arena of agricultural research. His area of expertise was improving corn production through plant breeding and genetics.
Mark has held leadership positions with Syngenta, Corteva Agriscience, Columbia Basin College, ConAgra Brands, and Purdue University. He earned his PhD. and Masters in Agronomy from the University of Illinois in 1987 and 1984, respectively, and a B.S. in Agronomy from the University of Wisconsin in 1981.
Mark Willman was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the middle child of a family of 9 from a Catholic background. He became interested in agriculture at the age of 13 when he started staying summers with his grandparents, on their farm, near Greenville, Illinois. He loved helping his grandparents keeping the farm place maintained, growing gardens with his grandmother, and working with cousins and neighbors in various agricultural settings. In high school he played football and soccer and later played soccer briefly at the University of Wisconsin.
Mark has had many challenges in his life where Jesus has helped him return as the prodigal son returned to his father. At the age of 15, Mark’s younger brother tragically died, which devastated the family. Through counseling and faith, the family moved forward together after this tragedy. Mark strayed from his faith through his college years and returned to Jesus after being separated for two and one-half years from his wife, Valerie, after 4 years of marriage. Through the years, God has restored Mark’s life from depression, addiction, and a failed marriage through the help of many people of faith, counselors, and friends. In 1997, Mark and Valerie renewed their wedding vows, 7 years after they initially married. They continue to invest time growing in their faith in Jesus and in their marriage.

Valerie Willman is a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in the State of Hawaii. She is a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor by the International Board of Christian Counselors. Dr. Willman earned a Masters in Counseling from Purdue University in 1984 and Ph.D. in Psychology, specializing in Sport and Performance Psychology, in 1987. Valerie Willman was born and raised in South-Eastern Washington State. Her “Miss America” childhood dream was to be Purdue University’s Golden Girl, an iconic Collegiate Baton Twirler, representative of the University and leader of the famous, “All American Marching Band.” At age 10, Val began to develop the unique gift of baton twirling, winning 27 National and 5 Grand National/World Titles in the sport. She was selected Purdue’s 13th Golden Girl, serving in the position for four years. Her expertise as an elite athlete provides an extra-ordinary foundation for her Sport and Performance Psychology work.
Dr. Willman has many testimonies of God's faithfulness in her life. One challenge has been conquering the diagnosis of cancer. Through the prayers of the faithful and the mercy of God, Val continues to live a Victorious life in Jesus. She wrote about her journey and published a book entitled, "Victory over cancer; Live as if it were true...because it IS!" Val has also triumphed over an angioplasty of the iliac artery, a spinal cord injury, a torn hip labrum and other physical issues, yet probably the most amazing testimony in her life has been the resurrection of her marriage after 2½ years of separation.
Mark and Val Willman were married June 30, 1990. In 1994, they separated for two and a half years. The Lord has allowed a powerful testimony of His faithfulness, mercy, and strength, within their marriage. From the depths of despair and divorce, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Willmans were brought to their knees before God, and their marriage was ultimately saved. They feel called to share their experience, faith and hope through the sovereignty of God’s loving, marital principles. Dr. Willman believes that each of the trials that the Lord has allowed into her life have enabled her to relate to clients and provide services more proficiently than would have otherwise been possible. (God uses all things for our good: Romans 8:28.)

Treasurer
Steve Oberg is a retired CPA and worked in public accounting from 1976 to 2018. He was an owner of a Lihue, Kauai CPA firm from 1988 to 2018. His wife, Gale, and Steve owned Oberg & Free CPAs from 1999 to the end of 2018.
Steve worked with many local small business and individual clients and enjoyed many years of building those relationships in the community.
Steve grew up in Encinitas, California, 20 miles north of San Diego. He loved surfing and moved to Hawaii in 1969 to enjoy the superior surfing conditions in the islands. Steve lived in Lahaina, Maui in 1969 to 1970 and first came to Kauai in the spring of 1970. Gale and Steve live in Omao, Koloa, Kauai. Steve has lived on Kauai's south side since 1972.
Steve's spiritual journey began as a teenager. After graduating from High School in 1969, he moved to Lahaina, Maui and surfed some of the best waves this world offers. But even those perfect waves did not fill the void in his life, the result of not knowing God in a personal way.
In the spring of 1970, Steve was invited by a friend to come to Kauai. They built and lived in a treehouse at the end of the road in Haena. The place became known as Taylor Camp. It was there that our Lord Jesus, in His amazing grace and mercy, claimed Steve as one of His own.
Steve will never forget the moment when He (Jesus) spoke to me from the Bible, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father but through Me." John 14:6. It was a permanent and life changing moment in Steve’s life.
